Re: Right or Wrong Replacement for my 04

Jump ship.

I did the same thing. I thought about jumping ship or just take the replacement they were offering. I took the replacement. Now I'm truly sorry I did. 2006 POS.

I should have taken the money and run.

No more Fords for me. Just replaced two Fords. 1 with a VW and the other with a Vette. I couldn't be happier with the Vette. I was going to get the GT 500, but cancelled my order. Sure glad I did.

As soon as the 36k warranty is up on the truck it's going.

Days in shop so far 71 and counting as they still have it.

34K miles.

After spending a month in the shop and having it back only 2 weeks, it's back in the shop. Ford Customer service refused to send me a DSB Package. Told me the info is in the back of manual. Well truck is in shop and I don't have the info can you give it to me? No, it's in the manual.

I thought I'd be okay. I was happy for about week even with the initial problems which I thought could have been taken care of easily. Then the problems started to mount.

Re: Right or Wrong Replacement for my 04

King Kong -- Try not to be too worried. Creeper has had his share of problems, but most of his aggravation seems related to the dealer/service department that he uses do not seem to be able to repair his truck. Find a good service department you can trust. Drive the truck and do not worry about it. If it needs repairs, then take it to your service department.

Many more have trucks that they are satisfied with than not. I am one of the those that is satisfied. There have been some minor problems (numbers of replaced VSS trying to chase down an ABS fault, driveline clunk, new updated TBC, rear-end gear set replaced as clutches were dragging, etc.) In all cases, my dealership performed the warranty work timely and competently to best of their ability. What more could I ask for?

Again, do not be too freaked out by what you read on this forum -- most with no problems do not post. Those with problems tend to post more often, either to vent or seek the technical knowledge to repair the problem.

Where did you get that assumption from?

I brought my truck to a very good dealer(no the purchasing dealer clowns), they service all of NYFD diesels, and he said "that truck is a mess". I admired his honesty when they said there was no fix for certain things.

Most of my problems are Ford quality control and design. My 2003 was a POS and the 2006 replacement is going the same route. Common factor in both? FORD design and quality control or lack of.

Re: Right or Wrong Replacement for my 04

Black05 makes some good points. People with good ones don't really have any reason to post, usually.

If you look at repeat problem trucks, sure, there may be issues. But there is one constant that we DO know about if we're taking information from here, the owner/driver is the common thread with repeat problem trucks.

No offense meant to anyone in particular.
