Talked to one of the mechanics where I work and found out that we recently had a 6.0L service truck go to the dealership with the same problems I am having with mine (see my post above). He said the truck got so bad that it was no longer driveable, which is how mine is getting. Anyways he said that all the dealership did was reflash the computer with the inductive heat program and did something to the HPOP. I asked if was the STC fitting and he said he wasn't sure. But there was no injector work or replacement. He said since the truck has been back it has run great without any problems.

the ford injectors work quite well and last as long as any other brand of diesel,IF you maintain fuel pressure. when the fuel filters plug or the fuel pump dies the injectors will croak very soon. unfortunately damage to the injectors occurrs while the engine still sounds ok, by the time you hear the engine starving the injectors are screwed. too bad ford won't add a system to monitor fuel pressure and activate a warning light, that by itself would have saved them millions in warranty and customer satisfaction. the best warranty is building it right so that you don't see the same components failing on every unit. its the designed in defects that drive customers away, that and replacing only the parts that totally fail instead of admitting what caused them to fail, fixing the real cause and any other parts that were hurt by the failure. ie change out 1 or 2 injectors when they failed due to low fuel pressure and then then in 2 weeks you're back to change another couple.if they fixed the pressure issue and all or more of the injectors they wouldn't have the same truck back 3 times for the same prob. oh and the customer would be a lot happier

Just as an update I got my truck back yesterday after being at the dealership since Monday. It ended up being a bad No.6 injector and FICM (Fuel Inject Control Module). Both were replaced and the truck runs great now.

Your problem is simple. Your injectors are having issues. When I bought my 04 I really didn't know much about it. Long story short. My truck had a rough Idle when cold and on every start. Worse when colder. Finally my truck got WAY!!!!! worse. It finally went from only sounding like a big rig on starts and smoothed out. To the steering wheel feeling like it was going to vibrate off the coloum. lol. I had to finally get every injector replaced. This will cost about 6 to 7 grand. Ford won't tell you this but the injector's in the 04 to 05's have very pooly designed injector's and they have had to be redesigned by International. I have all newly designed, remodified injectors in mine and my Truck runs freaking AWESOME!!! Here is the secret....... Go get the 200,000 mile warrenty from Ford and wait 3 month's or so and then tell them you having trouble out of them after you've have the warrenty for a while. warrenty cost 1500. That's it. It pay's it self off. Trust me. Even if your turbo when out it would still pay it's self off.

Its normal...I live in the Houston area and it gets pretty cold down here too...My 6.0 will run rough bout 30 sec. and smooth out. When she warms up she runs better in the cold weather than the Gulf Coast heat.
