I think once a truck is out of warranty. Take it to a reptible diesel shop to get it fixed. Usually save a little money and a good shop will diagnose the problem the first time around.

fire...easier said than done..finding a qualified 6L tech. in pvt. sector once warr. expires. I asked tec. at local d.shop doing my smog test..do you work on 6L, said no. I asked why not..said they had enough business & didnt need the potential hassel of working on 6L. I had personal thoughts about that reply, but didnt press it. Did think the tec. had a point. Word did spread & not just here on TDS.

WSU..good you found pvt. d.shop/2nd opinion. Maybe we can start a new thread like...Once warr expires..you have a problem..did you found a pvt. d. shop & problem fixed OR did you go back to dealer/svc. & results. Could be interesting. Anyhow..hopefully all ok for you.
