This morning I fired up Big Red, 03, 6.0 with 76k miles, after 1hr of being plugged in to warm it up. It was 15 degrees at 10k feet. The blackest soot smoke came out the exhaust for about 1-2 min, I turned it off concerned about the stuff coming out. I waited about 15-20 min and fired it up again, again black smoke, not as much, and rough idle. I watched the tail pipe, it was black with a puff of white smoke once and a while. After 10-15 min the high speed idle kicked in and then it was purring. I felt great because the walk would have been brutal. It feels like an injector....dont know. Would like some idea before I take it into the blue oval dealer.

sounds normal on cold start up. especially that cold? you have the inductive heat strategy? the white is just 'unburnt' diesel, well, smell it and make sure.

It is a 6 liter arent you used to this

Not use to this at all. I stated it last year in cold weather, never this dramatic of smoke.

first thing the dealer is gonna do is flash it if it's not already the newest calibration.
