Hey, sorry to hear about your truck, hope everybody was alright! On a better note I have a 03 6.0 and would not trade for the world, I have had good luck with mine! On here people come with problems so alot of times they are unhappy and looking for answer's, but to me I have had minor problems, reflash,etc. If I were you I would drive it , if you like it buy it! You are the only one that can answer that! Supposedly they are coming out with a new motor or different size, but you know how that goes, first year it always has some bugs! And if you look at Dodge or GM they have problems too! So to answer your question, if you like it buy it, don't worry about what anybody else thinks, cause you will get mixed emotions here! Good luck!! By the way mine is a March 03 engine build!

I have a 5 03 build and love my truck. It has had no problems. It hasnt even been flashed. Its a 6 spd standard and I get 18.0 mpg average. I have yet to fill after a long highway run but I am guessing 21 to 22 mpg. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif[/img] Run an oasis report on it before you buy.

The Oasis report is a Ford Dealer report that they pull of the big Mother Ford Computer. It has all of the work done by Ford to your truck. Take the VIN number to the dealer and ask them to run the report for you. They should do it free.

2003 6.0 Bought back
2006 6.0 Replacement truck Problem list.
Too extensive to list.
Days in shop so far 71 and counting as they still have it.
34K miles.
After spending a month in the shop and having it back only 2 weeks, it's back in the shop. Ford Customer service refused to send me a DSB Package. Told me the info is in the back of manual. Well truck is in shop and I don't have the info can you give it to me? No, it's in the manual.
My April '03 was just fine until the first reflash. If the one you are looking at has not been reflashed you may get a good one. If it has been reflashed stay away.
I've had many other issues, but the truck had been flawless from April '03 to Sept '03 when the flash occurred and most of my problems are programming related.
Sorry to hear about your '99. I had a '00 before this one and wish I had kept it.

'03, F-350 Lariet, CC, DRW, 5sp torquemaster, 4X4, 4.10ls, Sonic Blue monotone. Hijacker 16K full pivot/slider 5th wh hitch. One PRETTY truck [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img] UPDATE: Truck is still performing poorly, though it is better since the last reflash that removed the EBP sensor inputs. Has definately been the worst truck I've owned in my 30 years driving Fords.
See my sig for truck particulars. I am perfectly happy. Truch has had; rubbing lower rad hose, droan, HFCM replaced, Y pipe leak (replaced twice) until fixed, & during Y pipe repair cut the O ring to top oil line to turbo so had an oil leak. IMHO most of my problems started with the turbo pedestal repacement. As far as I know it has never been flashed, but am not absolutely sure of it. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif[/img]

I have had an april build 03 that has been the best vehicle I've ever owned.... including some HIGH dollar motorhomes and sports cars...
but had an 02 7.3L X that was probably the worst...
which is the vehicle most wish they still had !!!
so, like with ANY vehicle from ANY manufacturer - it's an individual decision whether to buy it, or an individual truck "decision" to run fine or not...
Do your due diligence, check the records (Oasis shows what FORD did, chk others), low ball them for the best deal, and work in an extended warranty....
if they KNOW the history of the truck,
they will either give you one or sell u one as part of the deal...
(and since that is basically an insurance policy, there is tremendous markup in their prices !!!!)
Have a March 03 build, 4fx4 lb ccand love it, no problems. Had Oct 03 reflash to correct wandering idle, and fuel water seperator manifold replaced. No other problems. Am planning on keeping

I have a May build and love it. I do know they switched injectors somewhere in April and an Oasis report would tell if there have been any problems. Mine was flashed somewhere around 7000 miles and got better mileage and seems stronger ever since.
