Slow Turbo Spool

I need some help from you guys. Here is my situation:

I have a 2005 Ford 6.0

I installed a rebuilt Turbo on my vehicle. The rebuilt Turbo is a real dog off the line. Right at the top of first gear it finally spools up and the truck starts moving. I am running an SCT so I went back to the stock setting. Same problem. I did the KAM reset and VGT Relearn and had the same problem. I guess I felt like wasting $250 because I went out and purchased a Turbo Actuator and did the Kam Reset and VGT Relearn again. Same problem. I get plenty of Turbo Boost once kicks in it just takes a while. I am not getting any codes.

Any advice from the professionals?

Also, I have access to a Snap On Diagnostic Tool with the CAN adapter. Does anyone know what readings I should be getting form the turbo?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Slow Turbo Spool

I'd be curious about this one. I just had a turbo replaced on my 05 350. Old turbo was really slow to spool. They said there was rust on the vanes.

The new (remanufactured) turbo doesn't reach 20psi until 2200-2500 RPM.

Sounds like the problem is elsewhere. Maybe a ebp sensor or egr sticking/slow reacting.
Is there any smoke? Anything else that is out of the ordinary? Or just slow spool.
When was the last time you changed your fuel filters? Air filter?

Any lights?(check engine)

Re: Slow Turbo Spool

I would also like to know an answer to this question.

As for the EBP sensor, didn't one of the latest flashes disable it? Can it still cause issues??

Re: Slow Turbo Spool

I believe it was disabled on the 03 and early 04 models. Correct me if Im wrong. On an 05 they still use it.

Re: Slow Turbo Spool

Ok, I was under the understanding that it was disabled on the 05s too.

Good to know....

Re: Slow Turbo Spool

Same problem mine experienced when the EBP went south. No low end boost until I got on it, then plenty. When I scanned my EBP sensor, Key On Engine Off, it was reading about 10psi higher than baro and map (they should be within .5 of each other).

Hey mark how do you scan you EBP sensor? I think I need to do this on my truck as well. How much was it to replace that sensor? What part of Colorado do you live?
