Smoke?

I started having (white and bluish) smoke coming out of the exhaust when truck is idle. It stops when I'm onthe highway. What gives????

If you are loosing coolant and the fan is coming on likely the EGR cooler or possibly head gaskets.

I agree with speedrcr78, check your coolant level and see if it's dropping. It may still be blowing smoke on the highway just that its not noticable due to your speed.

Thumbs up Smoke

It was my trubo. The seal on the trubo shaft was leaking oil through the trubo. They installed a new trubo...

I had the same symptoms and its was the Fuel Injector Control Module (FICM); Fixed under warrenty and truck runs fine now.

Just another possible cause to the white smoke issue

Yep, I was gonna say turbo. The ford mechanic in idaho, told me that when the turbo seals leak a little, you will see blue smoke from the oil burning. I think my 03 might have been leaking a little past the turbo seals, because every time I restarted it after sitting a while, there was a little plume of blue smoke.

One more reason I traded it!
