creeper, don't do the Chevy.. Go with the Dodge, and least you know you will only have to replace the following:
1. Transmission every 20K-30K miles
2. Rear End
3. Front suspension
4. 4x4 Vacuum Assembly
5. Steering Wheel
6. Front Diff
7. Block, if you get a "53" style block
At least this is a smaller list than your Ford.

Well, dang. I guess I didn't get this memo and need to rush my truck in to the service department. Evidently I need a new tranny. I guess I better start saving up because it looks like I'm in for some big surprises.
You guys never cease to amaze me. Can't we just congratulate the guy on his new truck? The 6.0L has made this group so defensive that when someone comes on here to post they got a new truck, all the responses seem to try and discredit all the other brands so that the 6.0L history doesn't seem so bad. From his first post, he really didn't say anything negative about his Ford truck. Instead, he said he'd miss it.
Parcours, thanks for the advice. Based on what you said (and I'm pretty sure you researched your facts 110%) I think I'm gonna go to the Ford dealership tomorrow and get rid of my POS Dodge. Matter of fact, I better not wait till tomorrow. I think I'm gonna go now.....(sound of feet running out the door)

So what makes you any different than me? I'm still trying to figure out what you've got to add other than you drive a dodge with a cummins. Good for you! Would you like a medal or a chest to pin it on? Seriously though, did you do anything different by defending what you drive than what I do! It's pretty fricken rediculous for a reasonable person to be brand loyal when we are talkin 40K. Believe me when I tell you if my truck was in any way a P.O.S like some folks claim the 6.0's are I'd be driving something different!

First of all, my apologies to DucatiSSsp. This thread is going where I had hoped it wouldn't.
SuperF350, I am no different than you. I am just another hard working American, with a great wife, some wonderfull kids, and a love for this great country (and oh yeah, that sweet smell of diesel fumes ). I'd like to think that I do have more to add, be it good, bad or ugly. I could tell you that my former truck was a Ford, and that I have nothing but good things to say about it. However, you guys just can't see past that Dodge in my signature. I could say that I am the only Dodge owner in a family of Ford diesel trucks, but I still don't think that would be good enough for you. I could say that when I stepped up to a diesel, my first stop was at the Ford dealership for a 2004 Ford F250 Super Cab 4x4, but couldn't close the deal due to price, and bought the Dodge instead. However, I still don't think that would be good enough for most of the guys. So, I'd like to think that I have an interest in Ford, but again, you guys can't see past the Dodge in my signature.
I don't want a medal for owning a Dodge. I made a very tough, and at time's over analyzed decision to make a major purchase in a vehicle (in this case a Dodge). I recogonize the volotility of these forums, and try and keep posts tame. I don't beat my chest and strut like a rooster because I own a Dodge. However, I do think it is okay for me to post a rebuttal to a post that I feel is false. I noticed you jumped on me, instead of the guy who started the attack on Dodge trucks.
Don't take me naming you and creeper as a personal attack. That post was more in jest than anything, because you guys just seem to go together, kinda like salt/pepper, ying/yang, Republicans/Democrats. Both of your arguments always are at the extremes, and each of you seem to wind up in the same forums. No harm meant. To be honest, I wish I had your's and creepers passion/determination at times.
I 100% agree that it is rediculous to be brand loyal when when we are talking about $40+K trucks. However, the reality is that it exists in great numbers. You take it for what it is and live with it. I choose not to drink the coolaid.

I also want to respond to the question about why Dodge folks post here. Different reasons for different folks, for sure. Me, I'm just feeding my diesel truck addiction. I owned a 2005 6.0 and 2002 7.3 and I loved them both. Now I'm driving a Cummins again and I love it too. I learned a lot about my Fords and every now and then I'm able to offer somebody a little bit of help. And every now and then somebody wants to know something about how a Dodge/Cummins compares to a Ford/PSD and I'm able to contribute to those discussions too.
If you look at my sig, you'll see that the only thing truck-wise that I won't budge on is my avoidance of any tranny that shifts for me

I currently own a PSD but the 2 trucks I owned before this one were dodges. In a few years Ill be selling my ford and I am still on the fence on wether to go back to dodge or not. All depends on what the new fords are like. If I do go back to dodge then I probably wont stop posting on this site. So I would be a dodge owner on a ford site, oh well.
The only real draws to ford for me right now are if I were to switch to a crew cab, or an auto. Fords regular cabs are a joke compared to a dodge. So if I stayed with my current cab configuration then I would definalty get a dodge. Both have their advantages and disadvantages and people buy trucks for different reasons. Doesnt mean you should flame someone because they like 1 truck over another.
.....GM's are out of the question for me untill they change their interior and lift them 3 inches so their comparable to the competition. factory body lifts look stupid too...

John,
Sounds like you have something positive to offer. Unforunately, most of the Dodge owners I've read on this forum are just here to troll and bash Ford. I guess we are supposed to go the Dodge forums and bash Dodge. Nope, not me. I have better things to do with my time.
I'll second that. If you have been in a Ford, then go to a Chevy, just out of spite, you won't be happy. I have no personal experience with the Duramax, so performance and reliability are topics I'll avoid. However, it's a Japanese engine, and I therefore won't have one, I wouldn't care if it was cheap and bullet-proof. I'm hard-headed like that.
What I DO have experience with is the Chevy truck. Read carefully, now- IT'S JUNK! The cab is cramped (BTW, there's noyhing wrong with my reg. cab Ford), there's no ground clearance, the sheet metal is like aluminum foil, the door hinges wear out quickly, and the doors won't shut properly, the instrumentation looks like a toy truck, I do not like the operation of the non-electric seats, the diveshafts clank straight from the factory, and the automatic transmission (at least on the gassers) is a piece of crap. Did I miss anything?
I am a brand-loyal owner. I've had Fords since my first car, I wouldn't own anything else, and, since it's my money, there's nothing wrong with it. ALL of my vehicles have exceeded my expectations. However, if Ford shut its doors tomorrow, my next truck would be a Dodge. I have several friends who own them, and the only complaint I've heard is the automatic tranny has issues- I'd get a stick anyway. Dodge has come a long way with the Cummins engine- It is much more quiet and smooth than in the past. The trucks are attractive, and you can park one next to a Ford free from the fear of being laughed out of the parking lot.
On the other hand, it's your money- do what makes you happy.

I would like to throw in my .02. I own a Dodge, but the last thing I came here to do is to start fights with my fellow diesel brothers. Sure, I 've had some trouble with a couple of guys, but they are no longer around here for some reason. I will only go on the defensive.
The only time I'll confront anyone is when they are obviously trying to spread false or grossly opinionated info about a truck they don't own. My advice to all you guys here that think us Dodge owners only come here to pick fights, look around. Maybe, just maybe if you guys were a little more critical of the (extreme) Dodge bashers here, then the Dodge guys would not have to invade a thread to defend their truck from some misinformed BS attack.
I'm all for weeding out trolls, but it works both ways. I am on all the forums, including TDR. This sight is by far the worst at fighting and bickering because it accepts baiting as long as it is by a pro-Ford poster. There are a lot of good Dodge guys here, but if you want the rats to stop coming around, don't let a handful of narrow mined, brand loyal guys keep putting out the cheese.
I'd gladly lend a hand to a Ford owner if he needed it, no questions asked and I hope he'd do the same for me. It's only the ones who don't think this way that keep these forums on the edge and make people angry.

Mr. Torino, should you go with the Dodge one day it is assembled in Mexico. Would that change your thinking?

Just out of curiousity, why would a guy that has a dodge post on a ford website.i dont post on dodge websites. Not trying to be rude just wondering.

Because, I HAVE OWNED 3 PSDs... a 95 a 97 and an 02... Just wondering if or when it is safe to come back...IF EVER... so far it is NOT..I miss the interior of the Ford and the Paints fit and finish... NOT the engine problems tho... I see the 6.0 has not been fixed. I LOVE THE CUMMINS!!! What Ford should do is go to "CAT" for the next engine and do it NOW!!! "F" Navistar!!! Even the 7.3 was not so good... CPS sensors and glow plug issues, oil galley plug and rear main seal oil leaks... Oil capacity was not 3 gallons or 4 gallons,,,OHHHH NO... it was 15 quarts...!! shoot why don't they make it 15.0758785412 quarts??? Goooood God.. Least the Cummins is 3 Gallons of oil..not 3 gallons and .5 quarts or something stupid like that.. My wifes car does not take 4 quarts or 5 quarts...NOPE ... it takes 4.5 quarts!!! What are they thinking... ????
