I add around 2 quarts into the resivour with the oil cooler off. Either way, youre not going to hurt anything, there is no priming procedure. It can take up to a minute of cranking, it'll start, run like crap for a couple seconds. Hold it at 2,000 rpms for 30 seconds or a minute and then drive the crap out of it get the air out of the oil/fuel.

sorry for being an idiot but what is icp and check it for what? i can have him check fuel pressure. other thing is when running we seem to be getting a ton of blow by out the valve covers.. both of them. could that be an injector o ring?

yes can be oring check all injectors on that bank it will force the fuel out of the rail by allowing compression in to the fuel system also did he put new orings and coper rings on the tip of the injector that goes into the cup after tighten down the injector you will feel the ring compress if done with hand tools if replace orings and coper rings

New O rings and crush washers everytime. The washers also have a top and bottom side if I remember correctly and must be torqued.

Just a tip that I have read on other sites. When you 1st turn the engine over, do it by hand with the glow plugs out. If anytrhing is bound or interfering you will find it without bending or damaging components. Sticking valves, froze lifters etc.
