switchin to a dodge for now, ford is hooped

well wat i though was a ball joint job turned into frame/axle welding. The bracket on the passenger side of the front axle is busted. The bracket is for the bar that goes from frame to axle. It is totally seperated. So now i'm going to buy a 99 dodge cummins to replace my 04 superduty until i get it all fixed. I'm not totally going to dark side. I plan to be back to the ford side when i get it all back together.

I had an '02 dodge 3500 dually extended cab with the cummins and auto tranny. Got 18+ mpg cruising with the same trailer i pull with my ford. Loved the engine and creature comforts. that cummins sure is noisy though. Would have kept it cept for the new addition couple years ago, needed bigger cab space.

The Cummins motor is a really good motor but the dodge truck is just junk...But it's all opinion.

The new dodges are much quieter than the 02 & older ones. They are much quieter than my 97 7.3. ( Just to give you an idea on noise.) The auto trans. is ok. I`m not real hard on a truck but I have 75000 miles on my 06 dodge with no trouble. Now, are the dodges as good a truck as ford or gm? I think they are. Mine is not as refined as my 05 ford or my 06 GMC but nothing ever seems to break or rattle. If you`re looking for a trouble free truck, don`t be afraid of the dodge. The seats aren`t as good but If you like the ride of the ford you`ll like the dodge. If you like the smooth gm ride you won`t. Just my $.02

no the bracket was part of the frame i had by buddy weld it up. so now i'm back to the ford, sold the dodge. found the dodge didn't have enough power, was a crappy ride and didn't have any of the finer touches like leather and compass

No Compass???

For real? You can't tell where you're going? Seriously?

What is this world coming to, when you need a compass in your truck?

FWIW, the Dodges do come with compasses, but you have to get the SLT option...some required the Laramie option as well. As for the power, you're right, the '04 PSD has way more power than the '99 CTD, but that Cummins will still be motorin', when the PSD is sittin in the junkyard.

I loved both of my CTDs...should have never gotten rid of the '05, but had to get rid of the '01...not enough room for the kids, like ryan_n_va said. I'm really starting to like my '04 PSD, especially since I had the EGR and EGR cooler permanently "fixed" and added the coolant filter....haven't had a lick of problems with it, like I used to.

And yes, they do come with cookies, oatmeal raisin.
