Tow/Haul, can it be set as default on? - Diesel Forum

Is there a way to set the tow/haul function on a 2005 automatic to default on?

I beleve it can, if it is the same as the 03's. But don't know how, but remember reading about it.

Using the dealer scanning tool - not the wds a teck may be able to reset the default programming - similar to being able to reset the reverse sensor button to off is off until the key is cycled not a gear shift to drive.

why would you want to ?

Only a couple of reasons I could think of doing that is:

You are getting too high of fuel mileage and want to lower it
you ALWAYS tow heavy and go downhill all the time...

but seriously....
why ?
the engine/tranny combo does a Great JOB without needing tow/haul....

but really, clue me in....

Well i haul 17-18k all day long around town. I drive with T/h on all the time just to save the brakes some. I was wondering the same thing about having it defualt to on.

This is a utility truck, runs at (or over) gross weight all the time. I like the way the transmission shifts and downshifts in the tow/haul setting; saves on brakes. The only time I don't have it on is when I forget to turn it on.

Mileage? What mileage?

JohnBoyII, no flame intended, believe it or not but some people do buy these trucks to work with. I have 2 550's that I would like to have it set as default. They both tow or haul heavy loads all the time.
