Towing with 6.0

A friend of mine has an '06 6.0. It is an F-250 CC with the automatic. He is contemplating purchasing a fifth wheel travel trailer and is concerned as to what size and weight would be the safe maximum to pull with this particular truck? Thanks in advance.

Re: Towing with 6.0

Pretty much any fifth wheel I would think. I pull a 32' gooseneck and a tractor frequently. (about 10,000 lbs total) and my truck pulls it fine. Squats a little but not much. Fifth wheels pull very easy.

Re: Towing with 6.0

I've pulled over 20k with mine. Dont really recommend pulling that much but the truck performed flawlessly.

Re: Towing with 6.0

A few months back I pulled my heaviest load yet which was 7 tons of AG lime for my deer foodplots. I regularly pull around my tractor which with the combined weight of the trailer, tractor, and a couple implements is around 9k.

Re: Towing with 6.0

Thanks for the input, I'll pass it along. My buddy is ready to buy a trailer, but was unsure about weight limits. The information provided will certainly help make his mind up.

Re: Towing with 6.0

Limiting factor is trailer pin weight and tires. A 5000# trailer could overload the tires and cause big problems. Most any modern 5'er under about 32' should be OK.

Re: Towing with 6.0

Combined gross vehicle weight is what will most likely be his limiting factor. Nowadays you can easily bust your limit with some of these trailers (especially toyhaulers).

The engine will pull a heck of a lot more weight then a 3/4 ton chassis is rated to link up with (especially when dealing with 4x4 Crew Cabs).

Re: Towing with 6.0

I have pulled 17000 pounds fiver with my 04 350 srw and it pulled great but the wind was not fun. my 05 350 dually pulls the hell out of the srw and the wind is no problem you should be safe with a 32-35 foot fith wheel
