Tranny temp guage question?

what should the tranny temp read just driving around town w/o towing a trailer? i just installed an auto meter sending unit in the proper place on the torqshift and the guage wont even move off the 100degree mark? what up with that.

sureley the tranny is hotter than that driving around town

Re: Tranny temp guage question?

After about 10 miles of freeway driving my Autometer gauge is reading around 150 degrees. The tranny is slow to warm up when not towing.

Take it out on the freeway and put on a few miles. If the gauge still does not move, checking your wiring. Sender and gauge could also be DOA.

Re: Tranny temp guage question?

Mine runs about 160 but takes a while to get there when not towing. It will take about 5 miles of stop and go to get the needle to move off 100. Towing it runs 170 - 190.

Re: Tranny temp guage question?

My gauge (see sig below) doesn't move off the peg for a while. After a few miles it will move up to around 150 degrees and a little warmer than that when towing. As we have all said here, it takes a long time for the needle to move if you are not towing or hauling a load, but if your needle never gets up off the peg I would have things checked out.
