Tranny went into neutral?

Went to go merge into traffic and a guy pissed me off so i nailed and smoked em....and went over the next lane another guy started riding my ass so i nailed it but this time the truck down shiffed started pulling then went into neutral? But still said drive on the colum?? i have nothing...shiffed it into "N" then back to "D" and it went back into gear...what happen?
