Trans issue?

I noticed since I owned my truck it seems to hunt around for gears a bit. Never noticed any slipping but the ride to work is hilly so I didnt think much about it. (My last truck was stick - 10 years, so I am getting used to an auto)

Also, while towing today about 3-4 times it seemed to loose forward drive for about 5-20 seconds...the symptoms are hard to explain but went away... but I cant imagine it is good...

Trans fluid is good and clean, not burt or stinky...BTW: Do you check the trans fluid when it is running??? It was overfull...

Please advise!
Thanks!

Check the fluid with the trans warmed up, on a level surface, with the engine idling and the trans in park. If it's overfilled get the excess out, that could be causing your problem.

It was the speed sensor in the rear....

It was the speed sensor in the rear....And was the cause of a few other odd issues including a speedo issue, and the trans issue (intermittantly not moving forward on a trip - like it was slipping 4 times on a 1 hour trip)
