Truck still stumbles even after service

I have a 2004 F-250 with the 6.0.
It is a late build 03'
I have had it in at least 3 times specifically for the no power, stumbling repair.
I just had it in for it's 30K mile service and also had them check it for the intermittent no power repair also.
Basically the truck will act as though it is running out of fuel, or there is a huge restriction in the intake.
After a bit it will recover and the be fine for awhile.
I have had all the latest flashes and recalls, and had the EGR valve replaced this last time (2 weeks ago), and it does not seem to have made a difference.
Anyone have any thoughts on what else it may be?
I am getting to the point where I am going to purchase an extended warranty, and I guess this is making up my mind for me.

I have been really happy with the truck overall, but with my wife driving it every day, I am a bit concerned for her safety when it does this so unpredictably.

Thanks!

Re: Truck still stumbles even after service

Sounds like it could just be a normal 6.0 PSD. I don't know how severe your power stumbling is, but it sounds to me like they all do that. Drivers expect more from the truck than the engineers do.

That was the main reason I wanted to buy a Duramax when I was considering a new truck. Unfortunately, my finance committe felt I should get over the fact I could not drag race the beast.

It pulls my trailer awsome though, and I have a Chevy gasser that really goes on the pavement! Not all is lost.

Re: Truck still stumbles even after service

Well I'm not extremely picky about certain things to be expected, but this is definitely not "normal" behaviour...
It's not turbo lag or anything like that, it is a pronounced power stumble no matter how much or little throttle you give it.
Now in a parking lot, no biggie.
When you are going to turn left at a busy intersection and the light is turning red, it is definitely an issue.

Re: Truck still stumbles even after service

How much oil do you put in when you change the oil. 14-15 quarts is the avg to bring it up the midway point on the stick. Anymore, and it causes certain performance issues. This could easily be the problem.

15QT's and a new filter every time...
Switched between Delo and Rotella since 1500 miles...

No change...

Re: Truck still stumbles even after service

That would've been the 1st question I would've asked too, oil level and sometimes brand of oil is critical. I had some idling issues when I first got my truck way back when. Tried a few different oils and stuck with Mobil 1 as it cured it. Have since had it reflashed and none of that is an issue anymore.

Hopefully one of the pros will have some advice for you, but I'm just here to refute Nate's comment that they all do that. Hogwash, I've owned this truck since early '03 and never once had a lack of power issue. You need to keep persuing a fix. Have you tried another dealer?
