truck violently shacking

I have a 2005 F-250 with 40,000 miles and recently when I hit a bump in the road, the entire trucks shacks violently and continues to shack for a long distance until I slow down. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this. Tires??, shockes??

Re: truck violently shacking

the word is shaking...
The first place to look would most certainly be the shocks (no "e" and that word).
Have you recently put on larger wheels and tires? (heavier, therefore harder to control)

Re: truck violently shacking

Tires out of balance, worn shocks, worn ball joints. If you have all three problems as I did, it's amazing how much vibration can get going.
