Turbo Cleaning !

Going to be taking my turbo out tommorow, to do some major cleaning...Just wanted to know if anyone had any hints on how to make removal less painful, or any hints on the cleaning aspect of it...

You will need some nickel anti-seize, most stores do not stock it. It's good to 2400-degrees.

The directions say to cut down 2" 3M pads to 1". Harbor Freight has a 1" size kit. Get that.

There are a lot of helpful how-to's on the subject. I just followed those when I did mine. Also, remember the order for the VGT vanes when you take them out. They should go back in the same place.

Good time to upgrade the two oil tubes (one under the turbo, one above), and the HPOP fitting.

2005 F350 turbo diesel Lariat 4x4 ext cab, short bed, SCT x2, MBRP turbo back, WeatherGuard box, the "beagle hauler".
1965 Factory Five Spyder GT, the 2nd one built out of 39 total. No top, no windows, no radio, no mufflers. Yeah, it's sweet.

Okay well got it all out and cleaned, and installed again....Bad news....NO BOOST at all......Seems like the turbo instnt spooling at all.........Does anyone know which position the actuator cam is supposed to be in when you reinstall the turbo? I kind of think its not in the right position....Thanks

Did you verify that the shaft would turn after you clamped the turbine housing back on? The housing to turbine blades has a tight clearance so alignment is critical.

Yea everything is turning fine, everything turns easier than it was prior to cleaning it. It just wont build any boost at all....If I step on the gas it rev to about 23-2500 rm and than starts running rough. Uppipe leak maybe? Maybe just need to check the clamp?

Blizz..Unless its something obvious on outside, I suspect you'll be taking t. apart again..maybe didnt get housing/pin lined up or ? Good luck!

btw..were u having a boost problem before cleaning?

Before the first cleaning, the truck would only build up to 18-20 psi max.
After the first cleaning the truck wouldnt build any boost at all.

Cleaned it again today, now the truck builds up to about 25-28 boost max, but it takes quite a while for it to hit 10 psi....After that it hauls ass.
