Ok, I was traveling down I 70 with my 5th wheel camper in tow in CO and the turbo hose blew off the turbo again. I put it on but could not make it more than 200 ft before it blew again. I ended up driving down the interstate shoulder to get to an exit. I lucked out in that there was a ford dealership in the small town. Of course, I now have 40,000 miles on the truck so I had to pay for the repair as it was below the $100 warrent deductable. I'm at the end of the rope for problems. Does anyone have a fix to stop the turbo hose from blowing off? Thanks Anthony
Do you have a boost gauge to see what kind of psi you were pushing when it blew? Or did the dealer bother to check it? The reason I ask, is that my 04 just got back from the dealer yesterday with a new turbo. Boost had been hitting a little better than 37 with the TT in tow, and that is a bone stock motor. I fully expected to lose a hose at least once with those readings, but none so far. Your's may be hitting more than that to lose a hose...
If it were mine, I would take the hoses off again, clean the mating surfaces real good to make sure there is no residual oil on them, then reinstall taking time to get the proper torque on the clamps. Others here have added some sort of sealant to the surfaces to make them seal and hold better. Good luck!!
There is a TSB out with replacement pipes (metal) and revised clamps. Did you get this done? Neighbor used sheet metal screws on his plastic one to fix his problem

I think he's talking about the turbo side and not the CAC. I had the boot between the turbo and IC tube replaced 2 weels ago. Mine looked bad enough I bought a spare boot to keep in the truck just in case. Last trip back home towing the boat, a day before my appointment wiht the dealer, I heard a lot of air noise under boost and knew what it was. I got lucky and the boot just ripped (it was pinched under the clamp) so I made it home and to the dealer fine.
Interesting enough, the bluw boot cost me $91. As I dropped the truck off, I brought the boot back to the parts counter and got a refund. I'm just glad mine didn't blow ot blow off.
I'd clean it good, then make sure when it goes back on, the ridge on the inside of the boot is set right on the turbo so it holds. Get the clamp on in the right place and don't over tighten it.
If it's been reinstalled correctly like that, I'd take it in for a new one.

does your trk. sit for long periods of time when your at home? i know everybodys heard this time after time. you should have some kind of warranty to cover a new turbo. the veins are sticking on the turbo. if you put a new hose on it & it still blows off & you put it back on then the next thing to go will be the intercooler tank blowing apart on the r. side. egr valves can also cause this to happen, but as many of these trks. i've worked on, i wind up installing a new turbo. the new ones are of a new design & won't cause an overboost.

I`m guessing you are talking about the short blue hose from the turbo to the intercooler.
If you are, check into doing a cv re-routing which will elem. some of the cv oil vapors soaking up in the hoses, which helps elem.the hose blowing off.
And then check out "My Photos". this is my fix I did last summer with a turbo-intercooler support,it works quite well.
Good luck,

Have has trouble with mine in the past, just like yours, simply degreased all sufaces VERY well (brake cleaner) and installed new (non- Ford) clamps. Have pegged out 35 lb boost gauge (probably 38 psi) and have not had a problem.
I had the same thing happen about 4 weeks ago, at 17,000 miles. I also ended up with a nice little dent in the hood, as a result.
The nearest Ford dealer installed a new neoprene coupler, but I felt there would still be a chance for a future blow-off, so I did the following.
Several owners on this site offered suggestions as a remedy for this problem. I opted to use a pair of vise grips and slightly flared the entire circumference of the end of the metal tube, which provided a lot more resistance to pull-out. It took about 3 minutes to this.
I also fabricated an aluminum brace and wrapped it around the tube, then bolted it to the alternator base. This took about 30 minutes. See a picture in my Photos section.

Guys, I posted this before but if you clean the hose and pipe real clean and apply this
It will NEVER slip off again. Agreed a little hard to get it off if you want to but trust me for a couple of bucks your problem will be solved for ever. Heavier duty clamps help but the real problem is the sloppy oil mess in the bottom hose.

This happened to me twice while towing 31' 10K lb. TT and loaded with family, dog & gear. 1st time was first time I towed trailer (at 10,000 miles) last July 4th on I-5 climbing the Grapevine in 103 degree temp. 2nd time was last May less than a week after Ford replaced my second turbo. Towed 10K lb trailer about 1,000 miles since then without losing hose, but my engine check light just came on this evening and I am scheduled to drive 2,000 miles this weekend. Perhaps I will be doing it on my 4th Ford turbo (in only 22,000 mi).
Wish me luck,
Joe

I had mine do the samething. Went to IHC dealer and bought a better clamp and some extras. Hasn't happened again. The original clamps are weak and won't hold the torgue setting.

109 lb.in. rings a bell. I quit bothering with a torque value and just tighten the hell out of them. Install must be squeaky clean. Normally "I'm by the book" but this design is so piss poor that I had to break the rules for safety. I'm going to buy the stuff roofeditor suggested and "glue" the hoses & pipes together.
i'm a ford diesel tech & boy i better not get one of these trk's in my shop w/ that glue on it cause i'd hate to have to clean the aluminum surface off. in torqing them the right watch when you torque them to proper specs. the clamp just barely pinch the rubber hose. if you tighten it too much the hose will stretch more & more causing the hose to tear at where the inside of clamp attaches to hose. i've done so so many that i don't need a torque wrench to do it. have had many come in w/ this problem. like i said before earlier in the post, if you do have a continuous problem w/ hoses blowing off, theres got to be a overboost concern. these crummy turbos are our #1 culprits in causing the overboost. sometimes it's insuff. egr flow.
