upgrades while dealer fixes egr, turbo & heads

any thoughts on upgrades while dealer fixes egr, egr cooler, oil cooler, head gaskets, new heads and new turbo? ARP studs for sure...others?

btw, 06 f250, 4x4, automatic, used for commute and light hauling, not worked hard at all. engine was great for first 60k miles, then periodic whirling noise from turbo under load with low power and hard-long starts. Then at 70k miles, coolant blow out and using a 1/2 gallon of coolant to dive 30 miles. hence the dealer fix above.

i know several guys that had the same experience at 60-90k miles

cheers

mostly run the banks on the economy mode and level 4 when pulling a trailer.
exhaust temp stays low and fuel mileage improves 1-1.5 mpg.
of course this means nothing if it blows the heads/motor.

cheers

Is this covered under warranty? I know there is a 5yr/100k warranty on it, but wanted to check with someone who is having a dealer work on it. I think I am having issues with mine also, and need to get it to the dealership to have it checked over after Oct.

White smoke at startup, then rich smell of fuel, poor fuel mileage even with 35's.

Any thoughts on that one?

Can't speak for all dealers but most and esp. Ford will reject a headgasket claim when mods such as tuners and cai's are involved. They can also void your warranty on the Oasis report stopping you from taking it to another dealer.

YEA BUT YOU ARE STILL RAISING THE PRESSURE IN THE CYLINDERS AND ARE STRETCHING THE HEAD BOLTS NOT TO MANY MODS A DEALER WILL INSTALL BECAUSE A LOT OF THEM WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY

Also if a dealer gets caught installing mods that violate state or fed. smog laws he can pretty much kiss his liscense by-by. At the least a very hefty fine.

I'm not a fan of Banks on a 6.0 either. But you're on the right track with having the studs installed.

Are you sure you understand what you wrote and how many things are wrong with it?

How is that relevant?

I don't mean to seem to be picking on you, if it were 2 different people, the quotes would still be there. But some of the things that get said sometimes.....Wow.

dealer knows about the banks and said all will be covered under the 100k mile warranty,
except the parts cost of the ARP studs.
will update this week after the work is done (been in the shop since wed last week).

cheers
