My 6.0 2004 F-250 has issues, It runs fine when it is cold. After it warms up about 5 miles starts a huming noise from in the direction of the turbo. then a couple miles later it fells like OD drops out and the steering wheel vibrates like hell! It loses almost all power when it does this, but if i full throttle it it almost seems OK. It really doesn't seem to do this in Tow/Haul.. It's real bad around 50 to 65 miles an hour and only when it gets warm. It also leaks oil above the bell, but is not the rear seal. Ford has replaced one injector, cam sensor,(now throwing a crank sensor), ball joints, alignment, balancecd tires and the turbo elbow pipe. Still no fix. I've even bought the new warranty. I bought the truck at 118900 miles and now has 124000 and have sank an extra 3000 in it and really don't want to keep replacing parts. Any help with what might really be wrong with it?
Boy, where to start? I think I would have the entire fuel system evaluated for flow, both volume and pressure. Also verify you aren't overfull on engine oil. As I understand this injection system has little tolerance for lack of fuel flow and aerated engine oil. As for your other problems, how are the shock absorbers and steering damper? Try some Bilstein shocks, at that mileage you need new shocks anyway. One other thing, don't mod this engine unless you want to toss your extended warranty. Good luck.

Thanks , I'll get fuel sys. looked at and I did just have an oil change. Couldn't hurt to get that checked. However I think that the wheel vibration and lose ot power is something way more severe.

I did have to much oil and trans. fluid. Runs better, but still no fix? Any body else have an idea?
When I bought my truck it had just cleared 100k. It had a bad vibration but only sometimes and it was between 40 and 55 mph. I had the tires balanced and it made no difference. I took it over to a friends garage and he checked it out. Ball joints were good. Wheel bearings checked out. And then he checked the tire pressure. They were all at 35-40psi. The tire pressure was supposed to be 65psi. We set 'em at 60 and there was no problem after that. Sounds ridiculous I know but just looking at the tires they looked like the tire pressure was fine but in reality they were low. You would like to think that when you get tires balanced they'd check the tire pressure. BTW, what did the extended warranty cost ya??

$1,500. It's worth it. Ford sales it. it's like 200,000 or 5 years. It covers injectors, turbo, block, head, head gaskets, timing chain and cover, all inturnal lubed parts.... etc..... not tranny though. I'll check my pressure on my tires. 60psi? kinda sounds like alot. I'll check the max amount. Thanks
Thanks for the info on the warranty. $1500 sounds like a good deal to cover until 200k. I'll have to check it out. The tires on my truck are 305/70R17 Nitto Terra Grappler AT and maybe they have a higher tire pressure than the stock tires.

Oh! I almost forgot.... My truck is also now having trouble starting as well. I wonder if that has anything to do with the vibration when in O.D.? I do think that one vib. is coming from the tires, but I still have a hum from the turbo and when I hit over drive the steering wheel feels like it wants to come off from vibration and no power. I'm going to check the tire pressure when I get off work. I'll get back to you on that one.

It' not the tire pressure. Maybe another idea? Think hard... The steering wheel starts to shake Bad! when it gets warm and goes into over drive..
