water in fuel lite

this is for a friend so here goes. its a 06 that has a persistant wif lite come on, changed filters, ran fuel low, got fuel from diff. stations, put additive in fuel but water in fuel lite keeps coming on any suggestions.

What year is the truck? This is a known "problem" where the sensor gets dirty or corroded and needs to be replaced. It's about $100 for the parts & time.

You might try removing the drain plug & shooting some carb cleaner in there & brushing it out with an acid brush. If you need to replace it, you'll need a new pig tail connector & gasket for the cover plate as well.

I'd also suggest that he get the IH replacement plug & check the HFCM on a regular basis (once a month or every other tank).

Depending you year & millage, it could be covered under warranty.

Fir...more info. 6.0 PowerStroke bulletins Scroll down to WIFL illuminated. Im thinking pulling apart..inspect/clean etc. would eliminate guessing. Good luck!
