Are we out of the woods????

It has been sometime since I have been on this message board, but I do have a quick question. How many of you guys are having problems with your 07's? I figured 4 years is enough time for Ford to get there heads out of there asses, but hey you never know. Or on the other hand praise your truck if you don't have problems. I would like to hear both sides. The only reason Im concerned is I had an 03 and it was a pile. Don't want to have to go down that path again gents. TIA!!!!

Re: Are we out of the woods????

Well your signature shows you already have an 07 but your text sounds like you're trying to find out if you should get another PSD or not?

If you already have an 07 it's kinda late to "protect yourself from going down that path again".

I have an 05 that's been flawless so far.

Re: Are we out of the woods????

I hope so cause I just made the deal today on a '07 F550 4x4. I thought I better get one of the last 6.0's before all the new motor problems start. Man these trucks are hard to find and the dealers know what they got. They told me that if I ordered an '07 it would likely be bumped to an '08. Yikes!!!!!!!! So I had to settle for a white one. I swear 99% of these are white. I hope there aren't any problems. Eric

Re: Are we out of the woods????

I'm a proud owner an '03 KR. I have 51K on it. So far it's been in the shop twice. 1st time to replaced the hydraulic brake booster and 2nd time have the most recent flash. For some reason whenever they reflashed it the #2 injector would not respond. They ended up replacing it. Both items were covered under warranty. So far, knock on wood everything seems to be running fine. I was running a BD powerpup in the beginning just for economy. But later decided to set it back to stock. I was paranoid about the dealer voiding my warranty. That was probably 10K ago. I'm averaging 17.5 mpg in the city.

Re "I'm averaging 17.5 mpg in the city."

Do you have a 2wd? I cannot imagine you getting that with 4wd.

If I use eggshells under the accelerator pedal I am lucky to get 17 on back country roads...

Re: Are we out of the woods????

17.5 mpg city everyday. I commute round trip to work and back 50 miles daily. Usually 70-80 mph on the interstate. Half of my commute consist of stop and go back roads.I'm running stock tires (265's). No lift. Diesel Kleen additive.

Re: Are we out of the woods????

Congrats on the new 07! Honestly, I think the 06/07's are pretty darn good.

That said, out the door, mine had severe steering wheel sawing action over bumps and pot-holes. My dealer tried and tried to correct it, no luck.

Now, I have an 07 that I've come to realize that has a shudder at 3000-3200 RPM, every time, slow or hard acceleration, and a singing (resonating) muffler around 1200-1400 RPM every time...

Seriously, the truck is awesome, I can only hope when I reach 500+ miles and I go to tow my boat, the shudder isn't what I think it is (torque converted).

Scott

Re: Are we out of the woods????

I'm debating trying Ford again, but concerned on the same note. I need to add a third truck to my fleet as our 05 Chevy Duramax caught fire and burned to the ground. My other two trucks are both HPCR Dodges (an 04.5 and an 05).

My biggest concern is the long term durability of the truck as we seriously rack up the miles (my 04.5 has 260k, the 05 has 115k and our 05 D-max has 165k when it went up).

I had an 00 PSD that I traded on my Dodge and miss the Crew Cab configuration. Do the new(er) 6.0's hold up better? I really like the overall truck but am still nervous about the engine.

My trucks are holding up fine under daily abuse. I am asking if Ford has their diesel where it is once again reliable.

But Great Post!

I'm not sure I follow you-are you saying they don't last a long time, or that they DO last a long time? In any case, I can't say I have a dodge with a huge amount of mileage-my '98 only has 265k on it.
