What I meant was Johnson Controls has a battery manf. plant in Waterton, Wisc. Or they did the last time I was there about 5 years ago.

Sometimes it pays to look at Ford.
That is what I was thinking. I am not sure it is really worth discussing for that price. (Motorcraft)Johnson Controls makes a great battery and they are fairly priced.

Over priced and their warranties aren't as good.

But how do they perform in the Ford? We use them in almost all the ground support equipment in the USAF. They seem to work great out there on the flight line.

I've had great results using Optima batteries. They are spill proof and don't leave corrosion on the battery terminals. I've owned 7 Red Tops over the past 12 years. I automatically replace them after 7 years service. Only had 1 Optima go bad after 5 years service.

Your decision and your money. I respect that. That is what makes the world go around and why there is more than one company for most things and why we can make choices in a free society.

Thanks for the feedback. I am considering trying them out in my truck. I still have the factory ones in mine but they are over 3 years old. I am in Phoenix which never helps batteries.

Wow! What a response to my question. I appreciate all the great info. My batteries are still good in my truck. They appear to be original. I bought the truck used. I have heard so many problems with ficums due to battery failures. Do the motorcraft batteries have a date code on them?

Didn't see a date code on mine, but that doesn't mean there wasn't one. I know mine were original, though, and they might very well have contributed to the truck's FICM failure, which I recently experienced.

IMHO, if Optima truly has a better product why do they not back them with the warranty that nearly every other manufactuer has ? At twice the price they should have twice the warranty......they don't.
