They do not have a date code. They are covered under the trucks bumper-to-bumper warranty only. I have heard of many stories about these batteries only lasting to the 3 yr / 36k mile point. That was my experience also. BTW - the only way you can get the original battery covered under the bumper-to-bumper warranty is to bring the truck TO THE DEALERSHIP - WITH the OEM batteries in the truck.

I have had 2 sets of Optima Red top. The first set was replaced after a little less then 2 years for free. The second set went a little over 3 years and just out of Warranty. For the additional price I didn't think it was worth it with the short Warranty period as well so I moved away from Optima.

Can't speak for the Red top Optimas, but I have had Blue tops in my Airstream...both have crapped out just over the two year mark, past the warranty. The first one actually blew the little grey pumice-like plug and vented into the trailer...scared the crap out of me, because it happened at two in the morning, and it smelled like rotten eggs, so I immediately thought gas leak. My electrical system checked out, so it wasn't a problem with the rig.
I can't justify paying $200 for a battery that's only going to last me two years and possibly stranded, when I need power.

I installed the Sears Die Hard Platinum (Odyssey) batteries in my truck earlier this year. I also have the larger marine versions in my trailer. Both sets are performing excellent.

My brother in law put AUTOLITE brand in and had to replace them in 2 years they leaked alot from breathers, and one died. I put them in my X about 4 months after he and mine started leaking out about 6 months after I got them. I think I'm on borrowed time. had them for three years and what a mess they make His where not leaking yet when I bought mine. I've have a DEKA in my boat for 7 years now and think I'll go that route when needed. Batteries are made by EXIDE.

My original Ford batteries were still fair-good after 7 years but it was time to replace. I have read on these posts that week batteries will shorten Alternator life. Ok to buy Ford batteries but will you get a 3 year replacement warrenty? Will your Dealership service them if necessay or will you get a hard time? I replaced with Walmart Batt. because of availibility.Njeer says it all.
