I have a buddy that is looking to get a newer PSD, he's currently looking at a 2003, 6 sp, 6.0, F350 crew cab 4x4. I've heard a few concerns about the first year 6.0 liters. What should he be aware of or look for with the 2003??
*KEEP ON STROKIN*

Going from memory, make sure the truck was built after May of 03. Prior to that, the engine had C-94 injectors and they were notorious for failures. Regardless of what year you end up buying, always have the VIN number checked in OASIS (some people here can do this, or go to a Ford dealer and have them run it) and see what the truck's history is. If it had a very checkered path, pass! Or wrangle a much better deal.
An OASIS report, and any documentation the current owner can provide on its maintenance history.
If its at a dealer, have them run the report and give you a copy. If they refuse or seem hesitant, tell them you're not interested in that truck, and you want to know what they're trying to hide. If its private party, get the VIN & go over to www.6literpowerstroke.com & post a request in their OASIS section. They usually post back next by next day.
I've kept all reciepts & logged all maintenance for the truck. When I get ready to sell, I want whoever gets it to know they have a good truck.
