Re: What are the symptoms of a clogged egr and/or leaking egr cooler
Clogged EGr with no exhaust or reduced exhaust flow would give no symptoms, maybe a little louder combustion noise (rattle) at some rpm's and maybe even an improvement in performance.
If the egr valve was sooted up really good and sticking then you could have surge in engine, reduced power, rough idle. PCM would not be able to control EGR if it is sticking and it will increase current and over shoot and then decrese current and undershoot and have a cycle of erratic opening. Too much EGR causes low power, cyclic undershoot/overshoot cause surge.
EGR cooler leaking coolant would make it smoke at times, miss at times, coolant level dropping.
