Whine/whistle

Ive picked up a new sound Im not 100% sure what it is. While driving under load boost aroud 10 psi+ I get a whiney type of whistle. If I step on it more it increases, back off it disappears. Ive de tuned my truck but leave the Edge in for monitoring as I have my dash apart moving guages off the a pillar to the dash to eliminate that big blind spot. I dont have the issue when in low tune modes. The other thing is recently while dragging my 27" travel trailer home I noticed my coolant temp rose dramatically on hills but would quickly come down. While driving normal with no load it stays at normal temp 180-190. My EOT stayed down low and only rose slightly in those circumstances. Im gonna just say I think my headgaskets are starting to let go but just wanted to hear if anyone else had a similar experience.

Thanks, Ron

Im hopin its the cap or boots, Ive had it apart so many times a boot would be likely. but if it was the cap that would also be an indicater of the head gaskets going, would it not? I show no signs of oil in coolant or coolant in oil. It runs good operates at proper temps, only thing is the whistle and higher than normal temps when pulling hills. I wonder if my fan is coming on when its supposed to? I havnt heard it recently and you can usually hear it.

A boot or cap wouldn't really explain the quick rise in coolant, though. I'm guessing your rise in coolant temps trended along with rises/falls in EGT's?

Might use one of those tester kits to see if you have had exhaust in the coolant.

Double check your up pipes for leaks, but from what I found out it's usually your turbo on it's last leg.

Mine was only making the noise at 13lbs or more.

Did your Powemax always make this noise or did it just start?

There were a few people that told me my whistle could be leak up pipes, but it turned out the turbo was done on my truck.

How old is your powermax?

My Whine/whistle

I have a 2005 F-250 and had a simular problem. When towing my rv, the engine temp would clime when pulling a hill. The fan would engage with
a loud fan noise then the fan noise would stop then and I would hear a loud whistle. This would cycle about every 20 sec. until I topped the hill and engine temp went down. The truck had done this since new and the
dealer could not find anything wrong.

I took it to a local dealer in AZ. and he said the belt was slipping. I did not think this was the problem as the whistle did not sound like a belt
noise. He pluged in his laptop and brought rpm to 2500 and fan to
full engagement and this was the whistle I was hearing.

Ford replaced the water pump pulley and belt. No more problems!!!!

Did the waterpump last year but belt is due forsure, ill look at it closer and see what I can find. Driving in town or on the highway is fine, it runs at proper temp unless i put my foot into it. Only when under load ie towing, pulling hills or hard acceleration does it climb. It loses no coolant from degas or anywhere else. It idles at proper temp sitting in the driveway. A buddy of mine has an 04 and is having issues with his fan not engaging period. Mine does spin at a low speed but I havnt heard it come on at a high speed. Odd forsure. thanks again for any info.
