White/Blue Smoke when accelerating from a stop...

I recently purchased a 2007 F-250, and have noticed that when leaving from a stop, there is a noticeable puff of white/blue smoke. The issue seems to be more noticeable when the truck is cold, but fairly consistant. I don't notice it under normal driving, but mainly from a stop. I have cleaned the EGR, cleaned and oiled the AFE filter, and ran 2 bottles of Rev-X through it.

I have an aftermarket warranty, but I usually prefer to work on my own vehicles when I can. Based on the description, do you think it's turbo related, or maybe injector? When I pulled the EGR, there was no moisture inside, but I shouldn't rule out EGR cooler either I suppose. Any suggestions you might have on what to check next is appreciated. BTW, the truck has 53k miles on it, and the only mods are a cat back exhaust and AFE intake.

In addition, I noticed some rust around the center of the turbo housing and oil around the hose. Are these anything to be concerned with, or potentially part of the issue?

To be safe get a set of reliable gauges for that vehicle, you will thank us all later! The ones on the dash are just pretty to look at!!! Did you get an oasis report on it? This will tell you what has been done to the truck. Scangauge 2 or Edge Insight can tell you all about the health of your coolers/ FICM AND HPOP/ and related sensors. How long has it been since you added the Rev-x? FWIW mine did the white/blue smoke thing at start up and under heavy throttle for a couple of days then cleared up/ Rev-x doing it's thing? Look at and load test the batts and alt separately as a lot of problems start w/ bad batts! YES they are that critical!!! Also I would check the FICM voltages cold start and then running around 2000 rpm. Next check the difference in cooler temps and post these. Hard to tell any thing from the pics. What did the egr valve look like? Did you notice any visible light through the seats on the valve/ was there (NOTICEABLE) resistance when you try to force it open w/your fingers?

Thanks for the reply, I will be ordering the SCT Livewire from Innovative today. I believe it will monitor these components. I did not get an Oasis report, but I have asked a couple of people on various boards to help me out with that.

I added the Rev-X on Saturday, and have probably 50 miles on it since I put it in. I was hoping it might clear things up, but it hasn't just yet. I will load test the batteries and alt tonight, along with the FICM.I believe the Livewire will monitor these as well, since it's an OBDII guage?

At 53,000 I can not foresee you having a problem w/ that truck at all. The reason you need the gauges is so you can get a heads up in the future and BEFORE you meet the problems that the 6.0 can be infamous for. OEM filters are a must as well and just as critical. Just so you know, a compromised FICM can cause those issues as well. My 6.0's cleared up within 100 miles or so and was intermittent with the smoke thing and it was just a puff. May want to migrate to a 5w-40 oil as well. They prefer it. I run the Scangauge 2 system on mine. I know some of the guys here run the SCT and will comment on those for you.Be patient w/ the REV-x as some will tell you, it may take 500 miles or so. I'll bet you stole that truck???

Definitely check your FICM.....classic symptoms.

Might want to pull your blue boots off, clean them up and check for cracks. They're known to come apart and will allow oil from the crankcase vent to blow out.

I will say that the combination of cleaning EGR, air filter, and Rev-X it increased the power. Unfortunately I don't which one is responsible for the improvement since they were all done around the same time.

The SCT looks like it will monitor FICM, VGT duty cycle. HPOP, and various other items, so this should help narrow down where the prob might be.
