Will B10 Biodiesel blend void engine warranty

I was about to fill up at a Pilot's truck stop for $2.69 gal. when i noticed the sign on the pump said "B10 Biodiesel Blend". I have never seen this before and i wasn't sure what it meant. The pump was in the auto section/pumps and not in the back where the big trucks fuel up. If ihad filled up with this fuel would it have caused problems and void a 100k warranty on the engine? And what is B10 Biodiesel Blend?

Re: Will B10 Biodiesel blend void engine warranty

B10 stands for the percentage of biodiesel present in the fuel blend. In your case, it would be 10% Bio & 90% petro.

As far as warranty issues go. No they won't just automatically void your warranty. However, if you have an problems with your engine that is attributed to fuel issues and it's found that you were running B10...THEN they can deny a warranty claim for that issue.

B5(5% Bio) is the maximum amount of Bio-diesel that Ford will allow to be run without any question.

Re: Will B10 Biodiesel blend void engine warranty

The question is: Could Ford tell that you are running B10? I suppose if you had a breakdown while that fuel was in your tank, AND they drain some & send it out to a lab to have it certified that it is, in fact, B10, well maybe. But you can't tell B10 by looking at it or smelling it.

I also know that Ford Motor Company helped build the biggest alternative fueling sight in So Cal, & it sits on a Ford Dealership.

Regards,
Tom

Also, I thought MN now has a law requiring the use of B10 at all pumps. Anybody confirm this?

Biodiesel requirements are 2%

you might be thinking of 10% ethanol required in gasoline.

look here for more info. Granted this article was dated july of last year.

Re: Will B10 Biodiesel blend void engine warranty

I don't think you'll see it, except in very small print somewhere on the pump that it "...contains 2% Biodiesel". As far as seeing B100 at the pump, it depends, some states have a lot of alt. fuel filling stations, & in others it's pretty scarce.

BTW, 2% Bio does more for upper cylinder lubrication than all the sulphur they used to put in; and — of course — it's cleaner.

Regards,
Tom
