Just wondering if anyone has experience this problem b4. I have a 2005 F250 and it has been great, zero problems with 24K on the ticker. Coming home the other day, towing my 10K camper, I pulled into McDonalds, parked in back, went in, came out about 20 min later and nothing. All it did was crank and crank, almost sounded like when you have a gaser and you have no spark, it cranks and cranks.
Keep in mind this was a 94 degree day, but my temp gauge was where it always is no matter what the temp out side is.
After about 1/2 hour of messing around, basically doing nothing I decided to just hold the key in the crank position and it finally fired up, but I have never experienced this before, do I need to worry ?? I mean I was concerend it had to crank about 30 sec. before starting, this think traditionally starts after about 2 seconds.
It has been sitting in front of my house since, I'm concerned it may happen again and really stick me out there. It does start as it always has now, but do I have a problem.
Sorry for the long winded thread !!

Another $5 on the high pressure oil pump fitting blowing apart! Take it to the dealer immediately and describe it as a hard start/no start when hot. They'll find it...
I'll 2nd what Greg said - for free. Happened to me. Get it fixed now, or it will leave you stranded along the road eventually when you lose all pressure and the injectors don't fire.
I can't believe I'm reading this, I should of searched this site as I see this seems to be a common problem.
A follow up question I have is, my lease is up in October of this year, I planned on buying this truck as it has been problem free to this point, and I really like it, but I'm concered that the repair for the HPOP is pretty dramatic, and maybe just turning it in and getting a new one is the way to go.
Opinions/Suggestions welcome !!

Another +1 to GregH. From what I have been reading the HPOP fitting is a common problem with the 05 . It took the tech about 6 hours to fix mine. Been running fine ever since. As a matter of fact I now see a little black smoke when I take off.
I've had something similar happen to me, but the truck was relatively cold. I started it, moved it about 50 feet, then shut it off. About 30 minutes later, I tried starting it again, and it cranked for at least 5 seconds before catching just as I let off the"start" position on the switch. This has happened to me twice now. A big cloud of grey smoke left the exhaust pipe after the start.
Is that a similar symptom to what's been described above?
thanks.

I am having a similar problem on my 2003 6.0 psd in my f350 crew cab. the first time it died (hot/warm restart), they said it was a crank sensor. the second time it died (hot/warm restart) they said it was a cam sensor. the third time it died (first cold start in the morning, about 70 F) they could not duplicate the symptom and it started fine each time but they replaced the cam sensor anyway. Two days ago it would not start (first cold start in the morning, about 70 F). It is currently at the dealer.
does the high pressure oil pump fitting problem you are talking about apply to the 2003?
