WYNN's New EGR Cleaning Kit

Does anyone have any experience with this kit? Claims are that it will clean the EGR, Intake and cooler in 20 minutes while the engine is running. A bit pricey but if you have to keep your engine stock, and don't want to take everything apart to clean the carbon out - it may be worth the cost. Consists of three chemicals and a special tool to insert the stuff into the intake manifold.

Just wondering ...............

I just called my dealer to find out. What they have is the Diesel Induction Carbon Cleaning Procedure, using BG products which, I assume, does the same thing as Wynn's. He's going to call me back with a price, which I'll post. Apparently a crudload of ash comes out of the tailpipe. I read on another site about a guy with a turndown pipe, and they couldn't hookup the exhaust vent hose....quite a few inches of ash ended up on the ground.

Everyone says that their 6.0 runs completely different, like a totally new animal, better throttle response, quicker turbo spool-up, better mileage, more low-end torque and the list goes on.

We'll see.

we have a BG products diesel egr induction service that runs around 500 bucks with an oil change. i have to tell you it works wonders, depending on how bad the soot build up is, it will clear out about 95% of the soot. i dont know about 20 minutes though, the BG kit takes a minimum of 2 and a half hours from start.

Price in Canada is reported in the 350 to 400 buck range - IF you can find someone who has the tool to do it with. Sounds like a good investment if you only do it every couple of years or so.

FORGIVE THE IGNORANCE! But, if you break all of this stuff loose doesn't it have to go by the turbo or does it get introduced at the "down pipe"?

Soot deposits are going to be everywhere "downstream" of combustion, and everything downstream of combustion only goes through the exhaust (dirty) side of the turbo anyway.

However, if your EGR valve is open, I suppose the junk could also end up in your EGR cooler and intake.

i would be most worried about the cat as it would be the brunt of getting plugged up.... but in theory it is already in your motor, turbo etc.... so yes might be bad but this process also breaks it down and flushes it.
