'03 7.3L blowing white smoke & runs rough
hey guys, Im looking at buying an '03 7.3 with 129,000 miles on it. However, the owner told me the truck blows a little white smoke at idle and has a lope to it when at idle. He said once you run it up or get on the road it runs smooth and you dont notice a problem.
Here is a list of what has been done at a dealership so far to check it out:
1) compression test: checked out (he's going to send me the actual results)
2) replaced injectors
3) replaced HPOP
Ford told him the only way to figure out the problem is to tear it down. I know white smoke usually = un-atomized /un-burnt diesel fuel caused by blow-by. However this truck only has 129,000 miles on it, automatic so doubt the odometer could have been altered easily. Carfax said mileage checked out too.
Its a steal of a price if it were running perfect but I obviously have concerns.
Any suggestions as to what it might be? Sounds pretty odd to me..
