Using "starting fluid" is the best way I know of to blow your engine to pieces. Don't use it. I would suggest that the "glow plug" system is your problem. Start with the glow plug ralay (GPR) and then to the glow plug themselves. If it is hard to start cold and starts fine when hot, you describe to me, that it is only the glow plug system. Again, no starting fluid. Very dangerous on a turbo engine. Hope this helps.
