2001.5 7.3 will not crank up

i have a 2001.5 7.3 powerstroke. it has 195.000 miles on it. i noticed that it was running a little rough and continued to drive it.. the other day i drove it and it had no power i left my house made it two blocks turned around and the truck wouldnt go any further i would push the pedal and nothing happened the truck shut off on its own and will not start back up. prior to this event i found the oil was low real low( do to a main seal leaking i think)i added oil and brought it uo to the full line. ok since the truck shut off on me i have added a little less than a quart to the hpop under the hood (wich i did following another forum ) i do not know what else to do any help would be great thanks

The possibilities are endless without any more information. Everything from electrical (CPS or another bad sensor) to fuel (pump / restriction in the tank) to high pressure oil (ICP sensor / IPR / HPOP) and on and on.

Do you have access to a scanner? Where are you? There may be a member close by with AutoEnginuity.

will not crank up

i do not have access to a scanner at this time i have opened the drain valve on the fuel filter housing and turned the key on ( like mentioned in other thread ) and have a good amount of fuel pumping into the fuel housing. i also read to unplug the icp sensor and try cranking it. i did that as well and still nothing. while its cranking over there is a small amount of white smoke coming outta the exhaust.

Dimebox or Giddings? Almost didn't write back because you forgot to capitalize the Nation's name...

Flywheel is close to Austin. I'll PM him and see if he wan't to make a road trip. I'm off I45 so that would be quite a ways.

White smoke would indicate fuel. That's a good thing - it means at least some of the injectors are firing. Try plugging the block heater in for a couple of hours.

Double check that your IPR solenoid tin nut hasn't fallen off. It looks like this - #14-007 IPR Re-Seal kit 94-03 7.3L Diesel - High Pressure Oil Pump - 1999-2003 Ford 7.3L

Its behind the HPOP just a little to the middle of where your ICP sensor is. You have to lean over the HPOP reservoir and look down - just to the right of midline.

I'm just messing with you. Lexington, huh? One stoplight, one Baptist Church, one Methodist Church, about 1500 people who all know each other and what they're up to? German town, right?
