My fuel gauge is off and apparently getting worse. The other day I pulled out of the driveway with what I thought was 1/4 tank but soon (about 50 feet) the truck started acting like it was out of diesel. I keep a fuel tank in the bed just for this occasion but after refilling, the truck started, but was running very rough. Then it stalled and I have not been able to get it to start again. It has signs of live but never fully started. Can anyone suggest a fix?
Maybe your fuel pump has lost it's prime. The suction side of the pump is notorious for leaking at the quick connectors and drawing air into the system.
Have you checked to see if there's fuel in the filter cannister?
You might try pressureizing your fuel tank with a shop vac on "blow" and see if you can get it to go.
Also your batteries may have drained far enough that your electroonics (PCM & IDM) have quit working. Try putting a good charge on the batteries.
