Is it a major project to change a #4 injector on a 99 7.3 psd?

Depends on your ability. I can change a left side injector in around half an hour... Some people take a few hours... depends on you, but not a difficult job by any means.

Alex has had some practice. It takes most of us a little longer.

Difficult, no. Time consuming the first time, yes. You'll need sockets and a swivel, an lb-in torque wrench, some rags, and possibly something to stand on. Just make sure you get the oil out of the cylinder before you button things back up and try to start it.

If you remove the 2 drain plugs, and patiently wait for the rail to drain, there will not be much liquid left behind to get in the cylinder. I blow them out with air prior to removing the injector to speed up the process, and ensure it's clear.
