#8 injector po284 cylinder contribution

i guess i neeed to replace #8 injector.po284 present on cylinder contribution test,plus i can hear the "cackle".where can i get a new injector? any good directions on how to change it?

As number 8 is the hole they put the long lead injector in to help with the cackle issue you have to be carefull about changing it out when it fails a contribution test because they will fail even if it is good. If the injector was changed over to a long lead but the calibration was not changed it will log the code. Also aftermarket scanners will log as it failing. You must have a very noticeable miss and hear that #8 did not make a change in the tone of the engine.

Rebuilt tranny with pump and valve body mods, 3 disc torque convertor. Diesel mechanic 20+ years

i live on the oregon coast and am having a miss problem i don't car much for the dealer here do you know a good shop in the w valley

2000 f350 CC egde juice w/att,afe intake, magnaflow 4in exhaust,towing horses

My brother in-law is the Service Manager at Brattain International in Eugene and he says that they have an excellent mechanic down there. Everyone really likes the mechanic at the Portland International store also.

My # 8 failed the CCT also. I replaced it and it ran exactly the same. I then had a "break-out-box" test or "injector performance analyzer" test done by the dealer and they ID'd the #6, which turned out to be the dead one. The cost at the dealer was about $150 and the local injection shop quoted me the same.
