ABS light -- changed rear speed sensor, but light still on!

My ABS light has been on for several months. I finally got around to replacing the rear speed sensor, but the light remains on. I checked the new sensor before installing, and it came in around 1925 in resistance, so I don't think it's the replacement sensor.

The light is on while waiting for the "wait to start" light to go out. Thereafter, it goes off for just a fraction of a second after starting, but then comes right back on.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Re: ABS light -- changed rear speed sensor, but light still on!

Check your front ABS sensors at the hubs, had the same thing happen and it was hub bearings gone and eat the tip of the sensor off.

First check your codes.

I had to replace the ABS computer. It just quit working one day out of the blue. Its a piece of cake to change but it will set you back about $500.00.

You could always stick in that spare bucket of sand you keep around.
Just Kidding, but I couldn't resist.

Re: ABS light -- changed rear speed sensor, but light still on!

May sound weird but mine has come on with differing, low rear tire pressures! I don't know if it's a coincidence or not but it goes out promptly after the offending tire is filled. Two seperate times it was a nice feature because I had a leak from a nail. My pressure dropped to about 20psi due to the leak.
