Accelerator pedal does nothing at times

2000 F350 125K. Starts and runs fine most of the time. But lately every now and then when I push the accelerator pedal nothing happens. Keep pushing off and on and it suddenly accelerates and runs normal again. Can't tell if I'm getting a "service engine" light because it's been on for at least 80K. Any ideas?

Your throttle pedal has two switches built into it. The throttle switch is bad. It sends a voltage signal to the pcm depending on pedal position, maybe try checking the connectors for being loose, otherwise you will need to replace it.

I just checked and the part F81Z9F836AB is back ordered just about everywhere. Must have had a lot of them going bad. I'm supposed to drive it 500 miles this weekend so I guess I'll have to take a chance. I unplugged and plugged the connectors several times so I'll see if that did anything. Thanks for the info.
