Am I losing it? Runs better on last half of fuel tank
On the last couple long trips I have done with my truck I have noticed something that seems so strange to me. The truck runs dramatically better on the last half of the fuel tank. Quieter, smoother, better milage. Am I crazy or is there something that could cause this?
probably because of the weight change not having to carry around all that fuel. that or your gauge could move at an uneven speed and go through the second half of the tank at a slower speed. mines definatly off.

The fuel guage moving differently I can understand, but the quiter, smoother operation has really got me scratching my head. My passengers have noticed it too.
Haven't noticed it with the diesel, but my Toyota has always been like that since it was new. More so with the last 1/4 tank than just the last 1/2. I have no idea what it would be......it's not the weight issue of the extra fuel though. It does it even if the bed is loaded.

Perhaps the fuel gets warmed up by the 2nd half of the tank, and since the fuel is warmer, maybe that's what's helping it run quieter/better?
