I went with Schaeffer Oil's Synthetic. Less expensive than the stuff in the parts stores, they'll ship a 5 gallon bucket to your house. And if I remember correctly, Brian's Truck Shop uses this in their trannies. Just my 2 cents.
Brian put Schaeffers in mine, after the rebuild...
I then switched to Mobil 1, and found it ""EXPANDED"" to much, and blew tranny fluid out over everything....
Went back to Schaeffers, and every thing is FINE..
Next option, after Schaeffers would be Royal Purple...
Amsoil, has got to much lubricity, and may have been the cause of my tranny failure, so I "PERSONNALLY"" would NOT go back to that..
I GUESS YOU COULD SAY, I'VE TRIED 3 OR 4 DIFFERENT TRANNY FLUIDS, AND YOUR LOOKING AT SOMEBODY WHO HAS ""PAID THE PRICE"" TO SAY WHAT I DID...

My Sierra Blanca in the sig pic was a great pickup for 11.5 years. I sold it last year. Replacement is a 2012 F-150 EcoBoost SuperCrew Lariat.
Another very fine tranny oil is Chevron Drivetrain Fluid. It is compatible and is recommended by Caterpillar, Cummins, Allison, John Deere, and several others that I'm forgetting.

No. The ZF6 stick shifter requires the same ATF as the automagic.
