I would bet is boils back to if the truck had a CAT on it from trhe factory you will be required to have one for emissions. For instance my 2000 Excursion did not come with a CAT but I believe the 6 speed trucks did in 2000. So, I would not be required to have a CAT but the 6 speed truck would.

To the best of my knowledge your truck should not have a cat on it.

I am sure someone will correct us if wrong.

That truck did not come from the factory with a catalytic converter, regardless of which emissions pkg it has. So you shouldn't need to worry about it. If you're in a state run by the greenies, they sometimes pass stupid laws. But they would have to be really world-class stupid to require you to add a cat to a vehicle that didn't have one from the factory.

I drove a hand-me-down 2003 F-150 SuperCrew 4.6L 2V for a while, but it was unacceptable for towing more than a rowboat. Replacement is a 2012 F-150 EcoBoost SuperCrew Lariat that tows my 5,000-pound TT like a dream.
