changing brake line question

I will be changing my front lines to stainless steel wrapped in Kevlar tomorrow. I was looking at the hoses today while changing my shocks, the lines go from the caliper to a mounting braket on the frame where there is a junction to another line. It looks like there is a large C clip on the back side of this bracket and a small one on the caliper side, but the hose has a nut on the caliper side. Do I need to mess with these clips or can I simply loosen the nut from the caliper side of the bracket. I have never messed with brake lines before, done lots of brake jobs but never had to replace a brake line, Thanks Ford!!!
Also in 2000 did they have 4 wheel ABS? I noticed three lines going to my caliper assembly, one is the brake fluid, one is the vacume line for the 4x4, but I am not sure what the third is, maybe ABS sensor, or a speed sensor?
I thought I just had rear ABS but I could be wrong.
Thanks for the help.
Kevin

Re: changing brake line question

My 01 has three lines and 4wheel ABS. I can confirm the third line, because I accidentally ripped the wire out of the sensor doing ball joints.

Re: changing brake line question

Is there anywhere on the door sticker that will tell you if you have ABS?
How about taking apart that brake line connection? The parts will be here tomorrow.
Thanks
Kevin

AFAIK 4W-ABS was available on all Superdutys. That 3rd line is the cable for the front wheel abs sensor. If you follow it up to the frame there should be an electrical connector.

They were definitely available on 2000 models. I have them on a Jan 2000 truck.

Re: changing brake line question

If you have three lines you have ABS. I have a Y2K without ABS and have two lines.

Re: changing brake line question

Good to know I have 4 wheel ABS. I got the new brake lines in and it is pretty clear how the connection comes apart.
Thanks

Re: changing brake line question

Update:
For those wanting to do this, the new clips are not like the ones Ford uses. The new ones are a simple C clip. With Ford's you must first disconnect the brake line, then pry the top of the clip off the nut while then sliding towards the other side. A real pain and a piss pour design. A simple C clip would have been fine!!! The new lines are awesome and work great!!

Re: changing brake line question

Real nice and how does the pedal feel? The beauty of the ones you have is they are kevlar coated so they won't frey.
