so whenever im drining on the freeway, i decide to go alot faster when i get some guy next to me wanting to romp and dump on me, we get going and my pryo gets to about 6 almost getting to yellow area. trucks running great and all but the check engine light turns on, once i slow it down and it cools down, the light turns off. now this may be a newbie question but
IS THAT BAD? haha.
or what could i do to help or prevent it?
anyone else notice this on there 7.3?
Pyro gets to 6 what? What mods do you have? What code from the light?

ok im sorry for not enough info, i wasnt thinking.
anyway here is what i have in the truck
ISSPRO triple gauge cluster with
BOOST/PYROMETER/TRANS OIL TEMP
AFE Stage 2 intake.
Silverline Exhaust 5inch system
and i have a set up for DI's performance chip, although i dont have the chip in it right now or when i drive since i gotta get a new one. i do have the wiring there tho.
boost stays around 15 to 20 when im gettin it.
the Pyrometer reads at around 6 which is x100 so 600 but im not thinkin its 600 degrees but who can help me on that.
the trans oil temp stays at around 180 degrees.
can this info help out more? let me know guys and gals. thanks

600 pre turbo or post turbo? IOW where did you mount the pyro? Does seem a lot low for pre turbo or even post turbo

when i turn it on and its at idle it sits at 300, when i get going it bumps up and when i run it it hits the 600 700 mark.
the pyro is mounted to the turbo from what i saw, the hot side. i should know the dang names for all of this haha working at mustang cat but i just dont.
so what do you think could be happening? see the thing is also that if i put the chip in, i dont wanna run it with an extra 140 hp and see taht dumb light turn on and get me to slow down or what not. .... i feel hopeless . but i appreciate that your helping.
You should get a good pyro that gives you PRE-TURBO readings. WGAS about what the turbo puts out? I am more concerned with what is coming out of the engine since that is the hot part that can more easily melt.
You also need to check the codes to see what the CEL light was all about. Maybe it was a P1211 or overboost.
