check engine light comes on somtimes after full throttle then goes away?

my check engine light goes on some times upon startup and/or after full throttle. Once i let off the gas the light comes on and the truck will not respond to the gas pedale, it will stay at a clean idle for like 10 seconds or so and not do anything if i give it gas, kind of like a fail safe mode or something. i removed my airfilter thinking it was getting clogged but that didnt stop it. I also plugged in a code reader and it doesnt show any codes present. There is also no chip or tune in the truck, it is a bone stock 2002 7.3 psd. Any ideas?? Thanks a bunch!

Most likely your TPS. Replace your throttle pedal assembly once you verify the TPS code.

They are both on the pedal assembly. Peek under the inst panel and you'll see where the wires hook to the pedal assy. The plug with 3 wires is the TPS and the one with two wires is the IVS.

Contact cleaner might be worth a try, but don't expect too much from it. A replacement pedal assy is about $100.

IIRC, that was for the adjustable pedal setup, and I believe it has expired (not a recall but a warranty extension thing for dead pedal complaint).

But then again, maybe they'll take care of it.

The MAIN thing is if you have a SES light the truck is trying to TELL You where to look for the problem!!! Get the codes pulled and go from there, Unless you have money to throw away!
