cold start

My 02 7.3 starts great above 35 degrees, or when plugged in, but if not plugged in it fires and quits several times and then finally will start if you just touch accelerator, then it lobes badly, for about 30 seconds, did not do this when it had 60,000 miles,now it has 148,000 have been told it could be injectors, injector orings and/or glow plugs, sound awful expensive just to start replacing parts, any ideas?

The first place to start is normally is with the glow plugs and GPR. Search the forums for Cold start and look for what others have done. From what I've seen its 8 times out of 10 the glow plugs or GPR.

I had the same problem as you and my cure was to switch to rotella 5/40 syn. oil. You can get it in one gallon jugs at walmart.
