Re: continually bending pushrods/breaking rocker arms

Maybe the tolerance on the valve guides are too tight?

Re: continually bending pushrods/breaking rocker arms

It is NOT a new engine-quite the opposite, its got 202,000 miles on it.....

does the fact that its bending BOTH valves eliminate a blown headgasket? I can see if the valves are blowing open from boost bending intakes, and if the exhaust was doing it I could see a headgasket leak, but I CAN'T see either of those bending/breaking BOTH intake and exhaust? The last time this happened after flogging it at high RPM/BOOST for a couple miles on the open highway errr racetrack.....She hit 139 before it let go.....

Sorry, I thought I remember you posting about putting in a newly-built engine. So many posts on here, it's tough to keep track of who did what! Especially with my feeble memory! Did you very recently add some new mod?

Re: continually bending pushrods/breaking rocker arms

compression check tomorrow after I get all the pushrods/rocker arms put back in.........will keep you posted

BUT would a bad headgasket cause intake pushrods to bend? there would be NO other indication of this?

I recently did headstuds

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm gonna say you tightened them too tight and squooshed the heads smaller, and now the valve stems are too long.

I really don't have a clue why it would be bending pushrods. Something is obviously interfering.

Re: continually bending pushrods/breaking rocker arms

nooopppeeeeee......

new pushrods and rocker arms, she is up and running (pretty well actually) with a light tick when cold (goes away after 45 seconds or so) and good power. Im assuming the tick is a pushrod I missed being SLIGHTLY bent, but.....this still doesnt explain WHAT is causing this. Mike
