I know I've seen you all speak about which coolant to use but can't seem to find it. I have a 2000 EX 7.3 - ??????????

Houndog, please listen to Gooch, he has the credentials(found in past posts). After reading ALL the coolant posts I have switched to an ELC, just makes sense. And trust me I have also researched the internet too.
Now you have a choice, as does everyone, again mine was Cat ELC.

Re-read the post above mine(from Gooch) good info. Re-read my post above. I originally had the green, now red( not that color makes any difference). I too struggled with the choice. And I'm sure if you PM Gooch he will in all likely hood give you some starting points to read some of the dialogue on coolants.
OK so I have a 1994 7.3 Direct Injection Turbo the previous owner put in a new Radiator ... the coolant looks to be ORANGE and i got some on my hands feels real acidic what kind of coolant is this. He also gave me some extra coolant in a metal gas can I got the vibe that it couldnt be put in a plastic container or it would melt!!
(I might be crazy)...
I just changed my coolant tonight. Roger that on the long process. You fill and drain, fill and drain - forever to flush everything out. I used the gold coolant this time, next change WILL be to the ELC coolant.
As an aside, I hate showing up after the coolant party has already started. I would like to request an enhancement to this forum so that whenever a coolant discussion starts, I get a text message to my cell phone. I need advance notice so I can make the popcorn and open a beer before the fun starts.

Must be Dexcool. Get it out. Even if it isn't anything harmful, I'd still be changing out all the fluids (oil, trans, etc) just so I KNOW what's in the truck.

Imagine how much more "FUN" things would've gotten if Larry and Smokey had shown up!!
The orange could be anything, Dexcool, Ford's specialty Orange, or even Chrysler's orange G-05. I'd flush.
International doesn't recommend ELC coolants in pre-2/2/99 engines (SN 940614). So in that '94 I'd use a conventional with SCA. A fully forumlated conventional (already precharged with SCA) would be my recommendation (Prestone Heavy Duty purple, Peak Fleet Charge, Fleetguard ES Compleat, etc.)
To speed up the flushing process, install one of those flushing "T's", pull the block drains and lower radiator hose. You'll get more of the "gunk" out, plus speed things up. You can finger tighten the plugs between flushes. It will be faster and more thorough in the long-run.
Gooch,
No need to do that since I'm now good for a looooooooooong time!!!!
Thanks Man
I for one appreciate your knowledge and willingness to share it. I wish I never would have got sucked up in the gold hype!!!
Take Care

Gooch , For curiosity sake, what would the early 99 & before engines differ to render different coolant? My psd is a 99 but forget what door said for manf date.(I'll have to check, I thought it was an early)I was already to get the ELC untill I read above.

According to International, who made your engine, ELC's can be incompatible with certain metallic and non-metallic materials in those earlier engines under some operating conditions.
Beginning 2/2/99 (SN 940614) International made changes to some internal material components to insure their compatibility with ELC. This includes seals, gaskets, injector cup material, sensors, and front cover.
There are lots of folks with older PSD's running ELC's without problems. But you'd be on your own there. I know of no issues with the 2/2/99-up builds. Keep in mind that the Gold coolant is an OAT-containing ELC as well.

The S/N # is in the vin or on the engine? or where?
The engine serial number will be printed on a sticker on the driver's side valve cover, or it (along with the truck's VIN) will be stamped on the engine block on a little machined pad rear of the oil filter (also a great place to see if your engine VIN matches your truck's VIN).
