CPS and mileage

Has anyone experienced a drop in MPG after having the recall done on the Cam Position Sensor? I haven't had mine done, and do not want to if it changes my mileage. I am currently getting 19 MPG on my 2002.

Which one are you running as your new one? Is the top Gray, black, or blue?

I got the "new and improved" one from my dealer that I believe is not the newest one out there. I keep it in the glove box as a spare. From what I have learned since I bought it, if I change it out I'm probably not going to be happy..........

Unless you are the orig. owner or you have actually looked at your CPS, don't assume it hasn't been changed out before. Mine had the grey CPS in it already.

I have all four CPS. the original, still good, has good mileage, new black with gold terminals, has good mileage, new grey, bad mileage, and the new purple grey, kind of in between for mileage. So I'd go with the new black or the new purple grey. Some call that one blue, but it doesn't look blue to me. Just another note, the new black and the purple grey give the best perdel readings. The grey gives a #8 wacked out perdel. But that pretty much means nothing, it doesn't really matter for that fact, but I just want mine to be right, so I went new black as it had the best mileage and perdels.

Good luck, there real rare. They don't make anymore since the grey and purple/grey came out. Some shops still have in stock, you might get lucky like I did. Try a shop out in the boonys somewhere, or a small town and they might still have some. If not get the Purple/grey one, its almost as good for mileage.

I went with the Black IH CPS and lost 2.5mpg over the grey one. Much quieter and smoother, but for 2.5mpg I'll take a little more diesel sound with the grey one.
